PADANG TERAP (DAY4 - FOOD QUALITY CONTROL)

DAY 4 (3rd February 2010)

Venue : Food Safety and Quality Division,Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Padang Terap

Briefing at 9am by Encik Pergas Ratnam( Penolong Pegawai Kesihatan Daerah Kanan)

Activities carried out :

• Organization chart of the unit
• Purpose for inspection and food quality control testing
• Inspection of different premises
• Food sampling procedure
• Regulations
• Vaccination

Role of this division :

1. To analyze food products and to take action if the food does not adhere to the food act set by the government. (Akta Pemakanan 1983)
2. Issues certificates for exported and imported food items after proper inspection of goods.
3. To inspect the various food premises and monitor safety of the food products.

Items can be confiscated maybe cause by following fault:

· no ingredient

· it is not labeled either in English or Malay

· the chemical content is not according to national standard

May be either: not hygienic (organic=ants, or non organic= oil stain), Not proper disposal, not proper storage!!
